Princess Cruises - Day 3 (Cayman Islands)

Caribbean Princess
Day 3 - Cayman Islands
June 4, 2018

So we arrived in Grand Cayman at around 8AM and there was really not much to do. We got a little something to eat and then headed off the ship to take the tender boat to the island. It was about a 15 minute ride and didn’t feel like it took too long.

Of course you hit all the shopping again and we didn’t book a shore excursion either, so we just lazily walked around the shopping pier. We found the Hard Rock Café, Harley Davidson store, and Margaritaville. Pretty cool to all be as close together as it gets hard to choose where you want to go first. These are just some of the places I like to visit and get some gear.

First stop, Häagen-Dazs as I needed the internet to unlock my phone. They won’t give you the Wi-Fi password until you buy something so we gave in and had a caramel coffee freeze. Delicious!!! I definitely suggest having one of those. After getting the Wi-Fi up and running, I was able to unlock my phone without factory resetting it. BONUS!! Now I had full use of my phone, which of course took about 2 hours to get that done. Just a waste of time but at least I was fully functional again. Amazing how we rely so much on technology and years ago we actually took pictures and savored the memories!

Now we were off to Hard Rock Café to see what memorabilia from the rock millennia were at this Hard Rock Café. See, every Hard Rock Café is unique in its own way. Each one showcases outfits, guitars, drums, etc, from famous musicians. For instance, they had Elvis Presley’s hat he wore during the song “Blue Suede Shoes.” Another was Madonna’s outfit from one of the tours she did, and so on. Pricing on food was pretty normal and reasonable. As with every Hard Rock Café I visit, I picked up a pin to add to my collection.

Without going into a slew of other places that I mentioned that we visited, towards the end we stopped to take a picture at the Cayman Island wall.

Taking the tender boat and back on the ship, we went back to our cabin and found an invitation. It was to the Captain’s cocktail party.  So we took a little cat nap and got up to get ready to go to the party. When we got to the party, we met several officers, but no captain. As they filled you with free drinks and hors d'oeuvres, they told us that the captain could not make it and to enjoy the party. That again, was very disappointing as I was looking forward to meeting him.
After being disgusted and leaving about a half hour into the party, we decided to give the entertainment another shot and see a show, Musical Showtime Mike Mentz. Very talented individual and a good show too! It was a one man show, wrote his own music, and sings beautifully. A must see on this ship. So from the horrible show from the night before, this show made up for that one.

After the show, we went to the casino and I got into the ProPoker with some fellas and one lady, Virginia. I met Jeffrey (Jeff Fa Fa), Arthur (the undercut boss), and several others that were very friendly. That was a great night. We had some laughs, drinks, and all around fun.

Until tomorrow….. Roatan!
